Title: Intelligent Homes (H&S/W)

General Information
Description: Identify and understand market segment that will be driving spending for residential design for the next two to three decades and what The Intelligent Home concept is and how it can help you serve this market segment…
Abstract: Our eight hour* “Intelligent Homes” seminar explores a simple – yet often overlooked – concept: homes should be intelligently designed so they may adapt to the changing lifestyles and abilities of the end user rather than occupants having to adapt to their homes’ constraints. This approach not only addresses the needs of the enormous baby boomer market but also the challenges the boomerang generation present, and the demands for the rapidly expanding multigenerational home market. You will also learn how to solve the needs of this expanding market (expected to represent roughly 40% of US spending by 2015) and how to profit by giving them what they want. Some of the tools and techniques explored in this seminar are: new ways to look at space planning and adjacencies to create flexible spaces, sustainable and energy-efficient elements that can easily be implemented, technological advances available to make homes safer and more user friendly, products and finishes that meet the needs of changing lifestyles and/or abilities. *This seminar addresses health, safety and welfare issues and includes 1 hour dedicated to barrier-free design and 1 hour dedicated to sustainable (“green”) design.
