This course will describe 3 key drivers behind globalization, explain why success in the global market relies on a company’s ability to adapt to local tastes, identify 3 main business models for engaging with global markets and describe the issues to avoid when using these standards.
Participants will be introduced to the driving forces behind globalization and the impact of culture on workplace design. They will learn how understanding the culture and the ability to adapt to it are jey to design success.

Phylogenetic Design: Lessons from Nature (W)
This course will provide participants with guidelines and insights to using the features found in naturally preferred habitats in their own designed/built environments. These will be designed with elements that help to foster emotional well-being and comfort, as well as enhance creativity.
Learning Spaces as Social Phases: The Importance of Physical Environment in an Increasingly Digital World
Participants will understand how learning is a social process. They will be aware of research linking physical environment to student outcomes. They will understand social shift from teaching spaces to learning spaces. They will recognize how design of learning spaces can support student performance
Past + Present = Future Workplace
Given the new/old realties of work, what shape will our work environments take? How will their evolution continue, after the vast changes of the past 150 years? Will we see entirely new landscapes at work?
Trendspotting Your Competitive Advantage
Recognize and research trends. Understand the factors that influence trends. Know the anatomy of a trend cycle. Forecast a trend and apply it to your own business. Evaluate ongoing societal trends and identify components that will affect your own operation.
