Title:
The Architecture Profession: Can It Be Strengthened?
Authors:
Tijerino, R.
Published:
Autumn 2009
Resource Type:
Academic Journal
General Information
Description:
Although rarely discussed in the popular and professional journals, the architectural profession in America is faced with a myriad of deficiencies that challenge its vitality
Abstract:
To determine if there is a discernible sociological construct that may be at the root of the problems, this paper inspects the history of the architectural profession. I propose that the work of sociologist Andrew Abbott (1988) is an invaluable tool, since its premise states that the critical element for an occupational group is the link between a profession and its work.
